As a partner of Vela, Kelly has made her mark in all facets of marketing. She brings a strong background in the highly competitive information technology arena ranging from product planning and management in the Windows Server family to the creation of executive customer and partner advocacy programs. She spent 13 years at Microsoft Corporation holding a diverse array of strategic marketing and business planning roles. Kelly excels at positioning, messaging and the development of global business value initiatives targeting decision makers at the CxO levels across diverse industries including federal and state government, financial services and retail. She holds a BA in English from the University of Washington.

Dorothy Liu

Founder and Managing Partner

Dorothy brings over 30 years of experience in a variety of roles from product planning and research, marketing strategy and sales force readiness in the B2B and B2C segments with thought leading companies such as Silicon Graphics, Hewlett-Packard, Apple Computer and the Microsoft Corporation.  She has advised start-ups, small and medium sized companies on their business development strategy and industry marketing as well as designed and implemented marketing organizations toward optimum effectiveness and agility.  She excels at helping her clients evolve their business strategy to address the intense demands of highly competitive technology sectors whether it be moving companies from legacy systems to SAAS markets or re-engineering organizations to be more agile and relevant. Her ability to learn her clients’ businesses quickly and apply her expertise in the core business fundamentals, delivers structure and discipline to marketing strategy. Her engagements range from SaaS, consumer online services, enterprise infrastructure and productivity, digital marketing and healthcare informatics.

She holds a BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.

Deborah Rappaport

Founder and Managing Partner

Deb is a founder of Velatrio and a tech entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience. Her entrepreneurial background has made her adept at scoping work for complicated projects and finding great talent. She loves to give managers a reprieve from personnel and management headaches while providing the expert, efficient help they need.

To Deb, the best thing that’s happened to business building and marketing in the last 10 years is the accessibility of data.

Deb works on Velatrio’s largest engagements, leading projects that include business strategy, product management, marketing, financial forecasting, online content optimization, and partner negotiations. She’s happiest when she’s relieving clients’ burning pains and hassles.  She also loves finding her team great assignments that offer the work flexibility they need.

She started her first company, a poster pop-up shop called Rappaprints, during college at Tufts University.  After college she worked configuring giant IT systems that ran radio stations before joining Microsoft.  There she was a product manager on photo, mapping, and productivity products and services.

Deb has 3 kids, 1 husband, 0 pets. She loves skiing (OK), tennis (bad), reading (solid), Seattle (devoted) and the bus (heart you, Metro.) She still speaks fluent Spanish from a year living in Caracas, Venezuela when it was a much safer country. She’s also a lead investor in a local  tech startup.
